COMRADE VICTOR BARNES
Comrade
Victor Barnes joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1953 and retired in 1983. Born
in Toronto, Ontario, he joined the Navy at HMCS York.
During his 30 years in the service, he served in Cornwallis, Quebec,
Stadacona and Shearwater,on the New
Minas, Sault Ste Marie, Mic Mac, Nootka, Haida, Bonnaventure with HS50
Squadron, Gatineau, Saskatchewan Athabascan, Maritime Command Sea Training
staff and CFTSD-201 Montreal as a naval overseer. During his career, he spent
2 tours with the NATO Squadron.
Victor joined the Legion 31 years ago and since has moved up the ranks
from President of Branch #98 Kingston, to Zone Commander, Zone 8 and up to an
including being President of the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command consisting of 119
Legions for 2 years. He is now retired and living in Kingston, N.S.
