COMRADE JOHN KIRBY McLEAN

Comrade John joined the Canadian Forces in 1951. Employed as an AE Tech, he attended the first F-86 jet fighter course in Camp Borden, Ont. He was then posted to 421 Sqn in St. Hubert and then to 2 Fighter Wing France. In 1957 he transferred to Namao, Alta. where he started flying as Crewman on the C-47, C-45 and Otter aircrafts. He would then transfer to 435 {T} Sqn and become a C-119 Flt.Tech. Re

trained on the C-130 Comrade John then transferred to 437 {T}Sqn in Trenton, Ont. In 1971, he would complete his flying career on the CC-137. Retiring in 1974, Comrade John would fly with Wardair for several years only to retire again, this time in Kingston ,N.S.
