Comrade Boutilier
joined the military at the outbreak of WW II.
As a member of the Pictou Highlanders, he was transferred to the
1st Anti-Aircraft Squadron, Dartmouth.
Due to a severe injury, Comrade Boutilier was honourably
discharged but managed to become re-enlisted in the Navy on June 16, 1940. In
the Navy, Charles served as a dental technician and was later transferred to the
13th
Army Dental Corp. He again
transferred to # 26 Co. Dental Corps and later to the #50 Corps in the Air
Force. In 1945 he received his
second honourable discharge but once again re-enlisted in 1950 for the Korean
conflict. It wasn’t till the end
of the war did Comrade Boutilier finally begin his civilian career. He
has fixed smiles and provided smiles for years with his upbeat character.
Branch 98 is proud to have Comrade Charles (Boots) Boutilier as
Veteran of the Month for October 2004.
