Comrade Watkins joined the RCAF in 1950 as an Airframe Technician. After graduating technical training at Camp Borden he would go on to work on several airframes including the Harvard, Mustang, Expeditor, Vampire, Ventura Bomber, T-Bird, F86 Sabre and the CF-100. After 11 years as a technician, Comrade Watkins remustered to Flight Engineer.
