VAUTOUR, Joseph Nathaniel Rodney "Rod" CD1

— of Greenwood, passed away February 26, 2010, in
his home, surrounded by family. Born in Chatham,
N.B., February 24, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Stella Marie
(Arsenault) Vautour. Rod was a member of the Canadian
Armed Forces from 1952 to 1980 serving with the very first Contingent of the
United Nations Peacekeeping Corp. He later retired from Marine Atlantic, where
he was employed from 1980 to 1997. Rod was a former member of the Knights of
Columbus as well as the Kinsman Club serving as District Deputy Governor,
District 4/Zone 1 in Northeast Alberta. He was
also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 40 years and belonged to the
107th Valley Wing RCAFA. He was a quiet, reserved man with a passion for his
Trumpet and an outstanding ability to wrap his nine iron
securely around a tree! He will be fondly remembered by his friends and greatly
missed by his family. We love you. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the
former Marie Ross; daughters, Catherine (Allan) Hearn, Bedford; Michelle Ansems, Greenwood; Colette Cochrane (James McKenna), Hunter
River, P.E.I.; Patti (Keith) Cadwell, Victoria, B.C.;
sisters, Donna Gerrier; Jeanette Fernandez, Janie
Savoy; brothers, Ken, Greg and Gary Vautour; 13
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters,
Marie Armstrong and Patricia Haynes; stepmother, Helen McIntosh. Cremation has
taken place. A Legion Tribute will be held 2 p.m,
Monday, March 1, in the Royal Canadian Legion Kingston Branch No. 98. Donations
in memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses-Kings County or Kidney
