COMRADE RAYMOND OLIVER
88, of Port
George passed away, Friday, December 5, 2008 in the
Valley
Regional
Hospital
, Kentville. Born in Lucasville, he was a son of the late James and Lena
Oliver. He served with the Canadian Anti Tank Regiment in the Hochfeld -
Rhine
Valley
area of
Germany
during the Second World War from 1939 to 1946. Following the war, he was
employed with Canadian Cartage Systems Ltd. in
Toronto
for 28 years. Raymond was a member of Branch No. 59 Royal Canadian Legion
Toronto, as well as Branch No. 98 Royal Canadian Legion Kingston. He is
survived by his wife, the former Margaret Stevens; son, James (Laura) Oliver,
Ajax
, Ont.; and grandchildren, Shelly, Marlo, and Scott. He was predeceased by
sister, Thelma Levy; and brother, Carl. Cremation has taken place. A Royal
Canadian Legion Tribute will be held 7 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2008 in the
Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, conducted by Branch No.
98 Kingston. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008
in the Middleton Funeral Home, Rev. Theresa Character officiating. By request,
