THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE
THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD;
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR
THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN
AND IN THE MORNING,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

COMRADE MARY TAYLOR (BLANCHE)

79, Auburn . It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blanche Taylor after a brief illness on Saturday, November 15, 2008, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown . Blanche was the eldest child born to the late Pearle J. and Dora M. (Gossen) Wagner on June 18, 1929 and raised in Plympton. After many of life's hardships and challenges, she ventured out and headed east to the Annapolis Valley at a young age where she met her future husband Jimmy Taylor of more than 50 years. They began a new life together and raised their two children. She held many odd jobs throughout her younger years, but her most enjoyable and memorable were her years employed at West Kings District High School . She could be found walking the halls as a hall monitor, picking on teachers and students alike. She also operated the student lounge for a few years until it ceased operation. You could find Blanche and Jimmy at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 98, Kingston , on Tuesdays and Sundays running and playing bingo for many years. She loved to play darts and cards at the legion, where she always brought along her own brand of wit and enthusiasm. If she wasn't there, she could be found at the mall or local restaurants enjoying coffee or tea with her friends or family. She was often seen with her best friend and sister, Genie (Geraldine) Wood, Kingston , getting into some kind of mischief. Blanche was a member of Aylesford United Church . She was also an associate life member of Royal Canadian, Legion Branch 98. Kingston . Blanche loved her home of three years at Mountain Lea Lodge in Bridgetown, where she was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. She is survived by son, Robert (Christine) Taylor, Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Juanita Taylor, Margaree; sisters, Helen (Mike) Filipchuk, Brantford, Ont.; "best friend and sister", Geraldine Wood, Kingston; sister, Dorothy (Bill) Hyson, Ontario; brothers, Carl Wagner, Yarmouth; Harvey Wagner, Plympton; Robert "Bob" Wagner, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan and David, and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by loving niece, Judy Yonkee, Kingston . She was predeceased by her husband, James "Jimmy"; brother, Harley Wagner; sisters, Nancy Pineo and Elizabeth Wagner, and nephews, Whitney Wood and Christopher Wagner. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, in Aylesford United Church , Rev. Tony Cole officiating. Interment will be in Aylesford Union Cemetery . By request, family flowers only.
