COMRADE EDNA CHESLER

CHESLER, Edna - 85, formerly of Kentville, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in East Halls Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Katherine (Thompson) Keizer. Edna graduated from the Provincial Normal College in 1942 and taught school in Prospect and Upper Church Street, Kings County. She was then employed for many years as a bookkeeper in Bermuda and Toronto, returning to Nova Scotia in 1982. She enjoyed playing cards, especially crib, and organized tournaments for over 10 years. She also loved knitting, crocheting and rug hooking and was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch No. 98. She is survived by brother, Harold (Barb) Keizer, Centreville;six nieces and four nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin; sister, Annie Fife, and brother, Gerald Keizer. There will be no visitation by Edna's request. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private family graveside committal service will follow in West Halls Harbour Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
