THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE
THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD;
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR
THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN
AND IN THE MORNING,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

COMRADE ALBERT FITZRANDOLPH
FitzRANDOLPH, Albert L. - 92, Middleton,
formerly of South Williamston and Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., passed away
Monday, October 15, 2007, in the Veterans' Unit, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital,
Middleton. It is with great sadness we announce his passing. He was well cared
for by the wonderful staff of Middleton Veterans' Unit for the past 10 years.
Born in South Williamston on January 19, 1915, he was the only son of the late
Frank A. and Frances Elizabeth (Robblee) FitzRandolph. He joined the army in
1940 and was a Sergeant in the 52nd Anti Tank 3rd Division. While overseas he
earned many medals, one of which was the Bronze Star. He was one of only two
Canadians to receive this from the United States Government. The citation
reads "Sergeant Albert L. FitzRandolph, Canadian Army, for heroic
achievement in connection with military operations on 21 July 1944, near
Sassy, France. Sergeant FitzRandolph, with his gun crew of the 3d Canadian
Anti Tank Regiment, was acting in support of an infantry attack when an enemy
shell hit beside his gun tower, inflicting five casualties in his crew.
Without hesitation, he manned the gun tower and drove the vehicle
unaccompanied to the infantry objective, maintaining effective support in
spite of the fiercest opposition. His determination, courage, and disregard
for personal safety were an inspiration to all with whom he came in contact.
By Command of General Eisenhower." After returning home he owned and
operated the family farm in South Williamston and later worked at CFB
Greenwood until retirement. He was a life member of Branch No. 112 Royal
Canadian Legion, Lawrencetown, and Evangeline No. 94 Masonic Lodge; a member
of Lawrencetown United Baptist Church since April 27, 1930; and a past member
of the Lawrencetown and District Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by

Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Bruce (Susan) MacGregor, Edmonton, Alta.; James
(Janet) MacGregor, Nictaux; Allen (Becky) MacGregor, Port Perry, Ont.;
Victoria (Gary) Gaul, Brickton; Steven (Ann Marie) Lowe, New Minas; Denise

Clarke, Mississauga, Ont. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lois
